Delivery Length Of Steel Pipe

The delivery length is also called the length required by the user or the contract length. The delivery length is specified in the standard as follows:
A. Normal length (also known as non-fixed length): all lengths within the length range specified in the standard and without fixed length requirements are called normal length. For example, the structural pipe standard stipulates that: hot rolled (extruded, expanded) steel pipe 3000mm~12000mm; Cold drawn (rolled) steel pipe 2000mm~10500mm.
B. Fixed length: the fixed length shall be within the normal length range, which is a fixed length dimension required in the contract. However, it is impossible to cut out the absolute length in practice, so the standard specifies the allowable positive deviation value for the length.

The production rate of fixed-length tubes has decreased significantly compared with that of ordinary length tubes, so it is reasonable for manufacturers to raise prices. The range of price increase varies from enterprise to enterprise, which is generally about 10% higher than the base price.
C. Multiple-length: Multiple-length should be within the normal length range. The contract should indicate the single-length and the multiple of the total length (for example, 3000mm × 3, i.e. 3 times of 3000mm, total length is 9000mm). In actual operation, the allowable positive deviation of 20mm shall be added to the total length, and the notch allowance shall be reserved for each single length. Taking the structural pipe as an example, it is required to reserve the notch allowance: 5~10mm for the outer diameter ≤ 159mm; The outer diameter>159mm is 10-15mm.
If there is no provision for the length deviation and cutting allowance in the standard, it shall be negotiated by both parties and noted in the contract. The double length is the same as the fixed length, which will greatly reduce the finished product rate of the production enterprise. Therefore, it is reasonable for the production enterprise to raise the price, and the price increase range is basically the same as that of the fixed length.
D. Range length: the range length is within the normal range. When the user requires a fixed range length, it should be indicated in the contract.
For example, the length is usually 3000~12000mm, while the range length is 6000~8000mm or 8000~10000mm.
It can be seen that the range length is looser than the fixed length and double length, but it is much stricter than the normal length, which will also reduce the yield of the production enterprises. Therefore, it is reasonable for the manufacturer to raise the price. The price increase is generally about 4% above the base price.
